Gary Wampler Myers
Gary Wampler Myers, 65, of
Stanardsville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at
UVA Hospital. He was born June 26, 1949, in
Staunton, Virginia, to the late Raymond Augustine
and Ruth Elizabeth Myers.
He is survived by his wife; Patricia
Collier Myers of Stanardsville, daughter and
son-in-law; Tabatha and Paul Myers of Stanardsville,
grandson; Drew Myers of Stanardsville, one brother;
Tim Myers of Staunton, mother-in-law; Willie Jean
Collier of Stanardsville, two brother-in-laws; John
Collier (Butch) and Robert Collier, both of
Stanardsville, and sister-in-law; Kathy Myers of
Staunton. He was preceded in death by two brothers;
Richard Myers (Dickie) and Danny Myers, and
sister-in-law; Tammy Myers of Staunton. He is also
survived by numerous nieces/nephews, family friends
and his wonderful dog Duke.
Gary was born and grew up in Staunton, Va and was
able to travel many parts of the world through
joining the Navy, being honorably discharged in
1975. He married his loving, devoted wife Patricia
42 years ago in November 1973 and worked at Sperry
Marine while attending James Madison University. He
was the first to graduate in his family from JMU in
1979 with a Bachelors of Accounting and Finance
He worked for many years as an Auditor of Public
Accounts and retired in 2004. Gary lived a large
part of his life in Earlysville, Va where he
obtained many life-long friends/neighbors.
He was a member of AICPA and maintained a personal
business, Blue Ridge Business Services LLC. He was
an active member of Ivy Creek UMC, serving on
numerous mission trips, boards and committees
throughout his life. In his retirement, he and his
wife decided to farm Hidden Valley Farm in
Stanardsville, Va. They maintained 60 head of Black
Angus cattle, continuing in his father-in-law’s
path. When he wasn’t farming, Gary enjoyed being a
member of the Orange County HOG Chapter and Patriot
Guard, finding extreme enjoyment riding his Harley
with his youngest brother Tim, close friend Steve
Belvin, and taking trips with the chapter. He always
thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family,
particularly his grandson by taking him on
tractor/4-wheeler rides and taking family trips to
the Outer Banks, NC.
The family will welcome friends at Ryan’s Funeral
Home, Ruckersville on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6 pm
to 8 pm.
A service of remembrance celebrating Gary’s life
will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at
Ivy Creek United Methodist Church, Charlottesville

Burial will follow at
Charlottesville. Pallbearers will be lifelong
friends Steve Belvin, Shawn Woodson, David Vaden,
Bill Jones, Jessie Sheckler and Tommy Eddins.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Orange
County HOG Chapter.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a
memorial donation be given to Ivy Creek United
Methodist Church – Building Fund, 674 Woodlands Rd.
