After a five year brave and stoic battle against
cancer, Clyde William Taylor passed away on
Wednesday, September 24, 2014, with his long-time
and faithful companion, Peachie Rita Shifflett Roach
at his bedside at her home in Ruckersville, VA.
Mr. Taylor was born on September 6, 1940, in
Louisa Co., VA, to the late Marion and Edith Taylor.
He was married to the late Susan Brehm, the mother
of his sons: Jeffrey “Jeff” William (Michele Adams)
and their children, Carrington Brehm and Eric
William; and Scott Anthony and his wife, Kristina
Bell and their children, Noah Kyle, Zachary Mason,
Brittany and Morgan McMullen.
Further, Mr. Taylor also thought of Peachie’s
daughter, Lisa Roach, and granddaughter, Taylor
Herring as his own.
Mr. Taylor enlisted in the U.S. Air Force when he
was 17 years old and retired as a Senior Master
Sargeant (SMSgt, E-8) after 20 years’ service. He
then worked at the United States Postal Service
until his second retirement. As a former aircraft
Propulsion Superintendent and Jet Engine Technician,
he then pursued his passion for flying -- gaining
his pilot’s license and owning airplanes, until his
health prevented his continued piloting.
Mr. Taylor was appreciative of the kind and
loving assistance of friends, especially Peachie’s
family and friends. In addition, there were numerous
medical professionals who were helpful to him and
supportive of Peachie, for whom they are grateful. A
special thank you to Dr. Deborah Campbell for all of
